Aug. 29--There's a lot happening this fall in fashion accessories. Purple reigns in color -- again. And chunky, funky jewelry is a must-have look for any outfit. And be glad for plaid. The print is showing up on skirts, jackets and even on shoes and hats. We asked four women to give us their views on the upcoming fall trends.

ANIMAL PRINTS

Tortoise shell cheetah bracelets ($25 each) at The Little Black Dress, 9793 Clayton Road

Lauren --I want these bracelets in my wardrobe.

Adrienne --They're funky, edgy and contemporary and the ideal accessory to make an outfit pop.

Marlissa --The funky style is awesome.

Betty --I love the wild look. Ideal for a night-life fashion accessory.

Animal print belt ($16.99) at Target

Lauren --I like this for a waist belt.

Adrienne --Love it. It's a simple piece that will change an outfit.

Marlissa --Great accent piece to make an outfit pop.

Betty --This is a great day or night fashion accessory.

BOOTIES

Grey open-toe "Buttons" bootie boot ($89.95) at Bakers

Lauren --I love this style. Would definitely buy this boot.

Adrienne --I see this as "high" fashion and edgy.

Marlissa --I may kill myself wearing them, but I like this pair of boots.

Betty --Unique and trendy. Just love it.

BOWS

Black patent-leather Valentino-style handbag by Bravo with a bow ($148) at Just Chic, 9220 Clayton Road

Lauren --I love the black bag. The bow adds a lovely accent to the bag.

Adrienne --I like the silhouette, but I don't like the texture of the bag.

Marlissa --I don't think the bow adds anything to the handbag.

Betty --I'm not a bow person. I wouldn't buy this purse.

COLORFUL GEMS

Rhinestone collar with chocolate brown silk ribbon ($65) at The Little Black Dress, 9793 Clayton Road

Lauren --I'm not into the sparkly rhinestone look.

Adrienne --I wouldn't touch this type of jewelry. It's not for me.

Marlissa --This piece is nice and would show lots of shine from a distance.

Betty --It's unusual but a striking piece of jewelry. I would buy this necklace.

FEDORA-STYLE HAT

Fedora style hat ($12.99) at Target

Lauren --I like this hat, but I wouldn't wear it. However, I would buy it for a gift.

Adrienne --The houndstooth look is timeless. I love this hat, and the feathers add creativity.

Marlissa --It's a cute hat, but I wouldn't wear it. Maybe a gift idea for a girlfriend.

Betty --Oh yes. This is a hat for my fall collection.

GRAPHIC PRINTS

Upscale Western-inspired leather graphic print bag ($198) at Giddyup Jane, 9670 Clayton Road

Lauren --Don't like this bag. Looks like a bowling bag.

Adrienne --It's unique and stylish. It also has an antique influence to it.

Marlissa --Super cute, fierce, funky and artsy. It would be a Merry Christmas thing for me.

Betty --It's a great conversation piece. The black and white mix attracts me.

MILITARY STYLE

Gray military-style jacket with black piping by Bailey 44 ($350) at Neiman Marcus, Plaza Frontenac

Lauren --I don't care for a double-breasted jacket.

Adrienne --When I see this jacket, I see the late, great Michael Jackson. Love it.

Marlissa --It's not for my shape, but I do like it.

Betty --It's a very business appropriate jacket. I like it.

MULTI-CHAIN NECKLACE

Long multi-chain necklace ($128) at Mister Guy Clothiers, 9817 Clayton Road

Lauren --It looks cheap. I wouldn't wear this.

Adrienne --It's sexy looking, and every young woman would look great with this accessory.

Marlissa --It's classy, and I love the layers. It's also very versatile.

Betty --It's not something I would buy. Too gaudy for me.

OVER-THE-KNEE BOOTS

Gray suede "Montreal" boot ($99.95) at Bakers

Lauren --Nice pair of boots. I would wear them and like the idea of a no-heel boot.

Adrienne --I love this boot. It's comfortable, yet trendy.

Marlissa --I would definitely wear this boot with a skirt, but not with slacks.

Betty --It's not my style.

PLAID

Red and black plaid flats ($19.99) at Payless

Lauren --I don't like plaid shoes.

Adrienne --I don't care for these flats. Looks like something for young girls.

Marlissa --I can't make myself like the plaid.

Betty --I don't like plaid shoes but would wear a plaid skirt.

PURPLE

Purple flats by Arizona ($45) at JC Penney

Lauren --Purple is not my favorite color and I don't wear flats.

Adrienne --I see comfort and a royal style.

Marlissa --I love the color and shape, but it doesn't feel like a quality shoe.

Betty --It's a trend bringing back the penny loafer style. I would wear these shoes.

RUFFLES

Black clutch decorated with ruffles ($39.50) at Lane Bryant

Lauren --The ruffles add a fabulous style to this clutch.

Adrienne --The clutch consumes me, and it's too large for my taste.

Marlissa --I would rock that. This clutch is too cute.

Betty --I don't buy any accessories with ruffles.

TRIBAL JEWELRY

Tribal necklaces ($28 to $40) at Macy's

Lauren --Love the chunky multiple strands.

Adrienne --I wouldn't buy it. I feel the style is for an older and more sophisticated woman.

Marlissa --The colors and the style are too bulky for me. I wouldn't wear this.

Betty --Love the chunky style. It's flashy and would make a nice conversation piece.

SIZING UP FALL FASHION TRENDS

There's a lot happening this fall in fashion accessories. Purple reigns in color -- again. And chunky, funky jewelry is a must-have look for any outfit. And be glad for plaid. The print is showing up on skirts, jackets and even on shoes and hats. We asked four women to give us their views on the upcoming fall trends.

Our panel of shoppers and their top picks:

SASSY TRENDSETTER, 19, Roxana, chose the open-toe bootie from Bakers. "I look for an edgy style. I tend to pick fashion accessories that others wouldn't attempt. I also mix up trendy accessories with classic pieces."

ELEGANT -- AND EDGY -- CHIC, 26, North St. Louis County, loved the tortoise shell cheetah bracelets from The Little Black Dress, 9793 Clayton Road. "My fashion style is chic and elegant but laced with a bit of edginess. I look for clean lines and classic prints. When the seasons change, I do shop for the new trends."

SEXY AND SOPHISTICATED, 32, St. Louis, selected the upscale Western-inspired leather graphic print bag ($198) at Giddyup Jane, 9670 Clayton Road. "I would label my wardrobe as sensible, but sensual. I select clothing that makes me feel good, but I'm not going to break the bank to get the look."

CLASSIC FASHIONISTA, 42, Glen Carbon, couldn't live without the military-style jacket from Neiman Marcus, Plaza Frontenac. "My fashion is generally up-to-date with various pieces of past styles to add or make conversation. I tend to mix and match wearing the same thing twice, adding something different to give it a changed look. For 40 plus years, the styles have come and gone, and I love watching when it comes back again."
