Q Where can I get an antique clock repaired? It's more than 200 years old.
A Shops that specialize in such repairs include Blackstone Manor Clock Repair at 815 Mainstreet, Hopkins.
When it comes to old chiming clocks, be sure you understand what the "fix" will entail before having it done. A common approach in some clock shops is to pull the wind-up mechanism and replace it with a quartz movement. The clock will be "fixed" and you'll never have to wind again (just replace batteries), but it also will not sound the same when it chimes. It will sound more "electronic."
Joff Simmons of Blackstone Manor said they always try to retain the original mechanism, unless the owner prefers a quartz movement.
