Kirk watchmaker brings skill back from Switzerland

Jan. 14--Stefan Breitenlechner, a Kirk Freeport service center watchmaker, returned from Switzerland recently with specialized training that raises the bar for quality service in the Caribbean.
He is the only person in the Cayman Islands, and one of only two people in the Caribbean, with Level III training from Breitling, a Swiss-based watchmaker whose certified chronometers were designed primarily for aviation use, then found their way into the luxury fashion world.
Mr Breitenlechner successfully completed multiple training courses at Breitling's headquarters in Grenchen, Switzerland, before earning the designation that will allow him to service more than 98% of all watches that Breitling currently manufactures. In the Caymans, Breitling's high-end timepieces are sold exclusively at Kirk Freeport jewellery stores.
Mr Breitenlechner also holds advanced training for many of Kirk Freeport's other watch brands, including Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier, Chopard, IWC, among others, and joins four other specialty-trained watchmakers at Kirk Freeport's service centre.
"When you purchase a watch from Kirk Freeport," says Chris Kirkconnell, Vice President of Operations, "we strive to offer you first-class service to support that purchase." He points also to the duty-free watch and jewellery firm's workshop that utilizes cutting-edge technological equipment found in Switzerland's prestigious watch-manufacturing factories, positioning Kirk Freeport service centre as better equipped than many of the regional service centres in Europe and the USA.
Services for watches, even those brands not carried by Kirk Freeport, include battery replacement, polishing, routine service, and repairs. In addition to its duty-free watches and jewellery, Kirk Freeport Plaza Ltd., established in 1972, is known also for its selection of fragrances, leather, crystal, china, and accessories among its 23 retail stores in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac.
