Ozawa Ally Is Arrested
Amid Fund-Raising Probe
Authorities arrested a member of Parliament and close associate of Ichiro Ozawa, a top ruling party official, on suspicion of violating political-funds rules, a development that could dim the popularity of Tokyo's center-left government.
As a probe into Mr. Ozawa's fund-raising activity widens rapidly, Tomohiro Ishikawa, a 36-year-old lower house member from the ruling Democratic Party of Japan was arrested by a special investigations unit of the Tokyo District Prosecutors' Office late Friday, according to Japanese media reports.
Mr. Ishikawa, a protege of Mr. Ozawa, served as a caretaker of his fund-raising organization in 2004, when alleged irregularities in its financial records first appeared.
Also arrested was a 32-year-old former aide to Mr. Ozawa who took over Mr. Ishikawa's job at the fund-raising entity. Officials for the prosecutors' office and Mr. Ishikawa's office weren't available to comment due to the late hour.

YEMEN
Top al Qaeda Operative
Targeted in Airstrike
Yemeni security forces killed six al Qaeda operatives, including the military chief of the Yemen-based affiliate of the global terror group, state media reported.
The Yemen News Agency, or Saba, said airstrikes Friday targeted two vehicles, one of which was reported to be carrying Qassim al Raimi, the head of military operations for al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, as the Yemen-based group is known.
The report stopped short of confirming Mr. Raimi's death. If Mr. Raimi's death is confirmed, it would be the most significant victory for Yemeni forces since its offensive began late last year. Yemen officials consider Mr. Raimi al Qaeda's No. 3 officer. He was the target of airstrikes on Dec. 17, but he survived, officials said.

PAKISTAN
CIA Drone Kills Terrorist
On Most-Wanted List
A CIA-operated drone strike on a suspected militant hideout killed one of FBI's most-wanted terrorists who had been involved in 1986 hijacking of a U.S. airline, a senior Pakistani official said.
Jamal Saeed Abdul Rahim was killed in the strike in North Waziristan on Sunday, along with another man who was identified as Mahmoud Zaydan, the official said.
Mr. Rahim was released from a Pakistani prison a few years ago after a conviction for his role in the Sept. 5, 1986, hijacking of Pan American World Airways Flight 73, in which the hijackers demanded 1,500 prisoners in Cyprus and Israel be released. Twenty people, including two Americans, were killed during the hijacking.
On Friday, at least 11 people were killed in two drone strikes in North Waziristan. The missiles slammed compounds believed to be militant sanctuaries.
